Debut maize drill will offer better accuracy and faster speeds of field
Valderstad recently announced that they will be entering maize drill sector in this spring. They will be bringing a new machine range made in the house by this Swedish crop kit specialist.
The key feature include air assisted transfer for seeds, which gives higher speeds of working, and it can also work in min-till and no-till situations apart from the conventional establishments.
Temp planters will be initially available in eight and six row version with spacing rows of 75 cms as standard. There will be pressurized metering system of seed used along with short hopper to coulter distance for reducing the sensitivity of vibration and slopes. This will also give you faster operation.
Metered seed
It means accuracy of planting and you can maintain it at faster speeds than what is possible earlier. The number of doubles and missiles are reduced. There is continuous air flow which separates seeds and then they are propelled in to slots in rotating metering disc.
The test machines in big and flat fields of Ukraine have worked quite well at twenty kilometers per hour or 12.5 miles per hour. The firm recommends forward speed of twelve to thirteen kilometers per hour or 7.5-8 miles per hour in the conditions of UK.
For seed metering, there is electric drive and it will give individual row unit shut off, simple calibration rate of seed and you will be able to adjust the rates while using it.
System of transfer weight incorporated in the design of the drills means that you can apply pressures of up to 325 kilograms on the disc coulters and this will make it easy to plant maize in to the uncultivated soils depending on the stone content and type.
The trailing gauge wheels are connected to walking tandem mechanism which cut the vibration at very high speeds and Vaderstad says that each of the unit’s ride will be smooth with good depth precision. The press wheels will be there directly behind for giving you great contact of seed-to-soil.
Seed capacity
Each of the seed hopper has 70 liters capacity which is pretty good for a 6.2 acres/row or 2.5 ha/row between the fills. It depends on the seed rates and the row widths. There is separate fertilizer tank and a coulter bar which can be availed of. The fertilizer is placed five centimeters on the side of the seed and two centimeters below it. These distances will give you rapid intake by seed germination without any scorch risks.
The big transport wheels will you good smooth ride while working and on road too. Standard spacing of row is seventy five centimeters and there are other configurations of row width available. There is also hydraulic or manual folding for the outer seed units. Agritechnica will confirm the full specs and price.
